DESCRIPTION:Children and teens will have a chance to join in the excavation of the c. 1664 homestead of William and Anne Nickerson\, the "father and mother of Chatham\," on Thurs.\, Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Rain date is Aug. 29.\n\n \n\nKids will excavate an actual pit under the direction of archaeologist Craig Chartier\, who leads the 17thcentury excavation\, now in its second season. This is a rare chance to gain hands-on experience and learn how an archaeologist interprets the centuries-old mysteries hidden under the ground.\n\n \n\nChildren under eight must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration required. The cost of the program is $20.
