About Us

The Atwood Museum is located at 347 Stage Harbor Road right around the corner from downtown Chatham. In addition to the historic old house of Captain Joseph Atwood, the museum has twelve spacious galleries featuring art, artifacts, maps, charts, and decorative items portraying life on Cape Cod since the 17th century. This gem of a museum offers new exhibits every year that join permanent installations and longstanding favorites from those who visit us. With dynamic, thoughtful, and engaging exhibits, we are certain that there is something for everyone in your group to enjoy.

In 2025, we are excited to unveil our new exhibit, Coming to These Shores: A History of Immigration to Cape Cod. We are also pleased to share a new documentary about the life of prolific, Chatham author, Joseph C. Lincoln, which will be available for viewing in our media center. We cannot wait to see you this season!
