Catania Family Makes Transformative Donation to Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod
FALMOUTH, MA – Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod is excited to announce a transformative donation from the Catania Family, supporting the development of a new 14-home neighborhood at the Benjamin Nyes Lane property in North Falmouth. Habitat has been working with The 300 Committee, which will purchase 48 acres of the 55-acre parcel for conservation, while Habitat will purchase 7.5 acres for homeownership.
The new neighborhood will be called Catania Woods, and the road will be named Hospitality Way, both in recognition of the Catania Family’s generosity and the memory of VJ Catania. Vincent J. Catania founded the Catania Hospitality Group, which included Hearth and Kettles, John Carver Inn in Plymouth, Dan’l Webster Inn in Sandwich, and the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis, and had a long history of supporting the Cape Cod community. Surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and rich in wildlife, the neighborhood will also offer access to walking trails on the adjacent conservation land, giving families the stability of homeownership along with the chance to enjoy Cape Cod’s natural beauty.
It is anticipated that infrastructure will begin around the spring of 2026. Homes will be sold to households earning at or below 60% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
After purchasing the land, Habitat will need to raise an additional $3.2 million from the community to complete the build and is actively seeking donations and home sponsorships for this project. Potential donors are encouraged to reach out to Tara Cronin, Director of Resource Development, by emailing Tara@habitatcapecod.org or calling 508-362-3559 x116.
Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has built nearly 200 homes from Bourne to Provincetown and is currently completing homes in Dennis and Wellfleet. In 2026, new builds in Falmouth, Brewster, and Pocasset will begin. Additional builds over the next few years are planned for Yarmouth, Marstons Mills, Orleans, and North Falmouth. Qualifying families are selected via drawing. Future homeowners contribute sweat equity by helping build their homes alongside local volunteers, and then they purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage. Habitat Cape Cod has been nationally recognized for building energy-efficient, affordable homes. All homes are deed-restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity. Habitat Cape Cod relies on the generosity of our community to build affordable homes with local Cape Cod families. To ensure gifts stay local, donors must donate online at habitatcapecod.org or via mail to 411 Main Street, Suite 6, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675.
