Composition Workshop Mission

Composition is the organizing tool that painters think about, but rarely delve into. Artists may rely on formulas, such as the s-curve or the single focal point, but effective compositions require more than a single device to support their mission. The purpose of this workshop is to engage participants on how to identify, harness and activate visual forces in their compositions, whether realistic or abstract. 

Rather than starting with a theoretical concept or readymade prescription for success, this three-day workshop will approach the topic from the ground up. The instructor will assist each artist in how to use the tools of composition to create designs with a greater sense of clarity and therefore, expressiveness.
