"Ocean Waves and Radio Waves" - New Book Launch Signing

NORTH CHATHAM – On Saturday, June 18 and in conjunction with Chatham History Day, Dick Kraycir will sign copies of his new book “Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum: Ocean Waves and Radio Waves” from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM and again from 1:30 until 3:30 PM at the museum, 847 Orleans Road (Route 28), North Chatham.  Copies of the book will be available for sale with proceeds benefiting the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center.

J. Richard (Dick) Kraycir is an enthusiastic volunteer at the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center, and has previously served as both President and Executive Director of the Center.  He frequently can be found at the Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum, where he enjoys building exhibits and engaging visitors who share his interests in history, radio, and science.

In “Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum: Ocean Waves and Radio Waves”, Dick, along with writer Sue Mellen, has captured in numerous vintage photographs and succinct narrative the history of the wireless telegraphy receiving radio station in Chatham Port, now the site of the museum, from its founding by Guglielmo Marconi through its near-century of world-renowned maritime service to its eventual demise with the rise of satellite technology.  For the reader seeking historical perspective, there are vignettes of the scientists and early radio pioneers whose contributions allowed Marconi and then Radio Corporation of America to achieve commercial success.
