About Us
The Chatham Cultural Council provides grants to artists, educators, and performers. Our funding is provided by the Town of Chatham ($5,700), the state of MA ($5,700), and private donations. State funding is based on full-time residents (6,300), not our seasonal population of 20,000 - 30,000 people, so we are underfunded.
Our mission is to promote a rich and diverse life by supporting programs, events, and performances that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and community building. We believe that bringing culture to our communities elevates quality of life, educates citizens, and drives growth in the creative economy.
Cultural Council grants benefit the citizens of Chatham and the surrounding Cape Cod communities. Grant priorities promote programs and venues that serve large groups in our communities, school aged children, and activities related to learning. Programs and events that enrich our seniors and include all citizens of our community are given high priority.
Every September, performers, educators, and artists apply for grants through the Mass Cultural Council’s portal. The Chatham Cultural Council reviews applications and awards grants in December. If you would like to make a tax deduction donation, please send a check to the Chatham Cultural Council, 549 Main Street, Chatham, MA 02633, or drop it off with our town treasurer, Sharon Drown.
