Copeland Subaru & Subaru of America Donates Over $25,000 to Habitat Cape Cod

HYANNIS, MA—Copeland Subaru, a national leader among Subaru retailers for its commitment to giving back to the Cape Cod community, recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod as its hometown charity to raise awareness of the need to build more affordable homes in our community. Through Copeland Subaru’s recent Share the Love event, Copeland Subaru and Subaru of America raised $25,075 to donate to Habitat Cape Cod to help more local families build a brighter future and stay on Cape Cod.

In 2024, Copeland Subaru was recognized for their commitment to giving back to their community and was awarded Subaru’s Community Commitment Award. Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod is thrilled to have Copeland Subaru as a community partner, helping to further the mission of building homes, changing lives, and preserving the community through building more affordable homes with local Cape Cod families.

Homeownership applications are now available for Dennis and Wellfleet homes with a submission deadline of Monday, May 13, 2024; applicants can visit habitatcapecod.org for more information. Future homebuyers build their homes alongside volunteers, donors, sponsors, and the community, then purchase the home for an affordable price when finished and will have an affordable mortgage. The homes are deed-restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity.

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has completed over 180 homes on Cape Cod and is currently building in Brewster and will begin new builds this fall in Dennis and Wellfleet. More builds are planned for Yarmouth, Marstons Mills, Falmouth, and beyond. Local homebuyers are chosen after a long application process and a drawing of qualified applicants; future homeowners put sweat equity into their homes and purchase the homes with an affordable mortgage. Homes are deed-restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity.  Habitat Cape Cod homes are energy-efficient and generate more energy than the homes use. These homes also have a sustainable landscape to align with Cape Cod’s delicate ecosystem.  Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has been recognized nationally for creating and producing energy-efficient affordable homes. For more information on making a donation and upcoming builds, visit habitatcapecod.org.

Chatham, Cape Cod Town Resources

One of the older townships on Cape Cod, Chatham was settled in 1656 by William and Anne Busby Nickerson. Incorporated in 1712, the town’s census list now approximates 7,000 residents. Originally a farming community, its inhabitants found deep sea fishing more lucrative; and today, small boat deep sea fishing, as well as shell fishing continue as important maritime industries.

Covering an area of approximately seventeen square miles, Chatham is  a happy combination of past and present — old-fashioned and picturesque, yet affording the best in modern facilities.

Surrounded by water on three sides, Chatham benefits from Mother Nature’s “natural air conditioning” with cool summers, exquisite autumns, and mild winters. It is a comfortable place in which to live year-round, as a summer resident or visit on vacation. We are proud of our community and hope that you will enjoy your stay with us and return often.

Chatham operates under the town meeting form of government. The executive officers are a board of five part-time Selectmen and a Town Manager. The citizens of Chatham enjoy the special benefits of forward-looking zoning and planning, and of both public and private conservation efforts.
