Cape Cod Healthcare Announces January Blood Drives
(Hyannis, December 30) Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital are in urgent need of blood donations. Numerous blood drives are being held across Cape Cod in January to benefit Cape Cod Healthcare (CCHC).
Since 1970, January has been recognized as National Blood Donor month to honor blood donors and help emphasize the importance of blood and platelet donations, especially during the winter months when inclement weather or seasonal illness may impact donations. Cape Cod and Falmouth hospitals must have at least one week’s worth of blood on hand at all times. Since each unit collected or purchased only lasts 42 days, it is a constant challenge to maintain sufficient supply. Blood collected at Cape Cod Healthcare blood drives stays on Cape Cod to help our families, friends and neighbors.
Donors to CCHC blood drives in January will receive a Cumberland Farms gift card and complimentary beverage coupon.

Driving Tips:
Vehicles must be parked within the white lines.
When approaching a rotary (traffic circle), traffic in the rotary has the right of way.
Right turn at red light is permitted, except where noted.
Highway speed limit is 55 mph.
Seat belt use is required in Massachusetts. Child restraints are required for children 4 and under.
Legal driving age is 16 years.
Pedestrians have right of way at crosswalks.

One of the older townships on Cape Cod, Chatham was settled in 1656 by William and Anne Busby Nickerson. Incorporated in 1712, the town’s census list now approximates 7,000 residents.
