The Children's Center Hosts “Cheers for Children” Fundraiser at Mooncussers Tavern Event to Feature Silent Auction, Gingerbread House Auction, and More to Support Early Childhood Education in Harwich

Harwich, MA — The Children’s Center is excited to announce its upcoming fundraising event, Cheers for Children, to be held on November 22 at Mooncussers Tavern in Harwich. Guests are invited to join a festive evening featuring appetizers, a complimentary drink, and the chance to win a door prize – all while making a meaningful impact in the lives of local children. Tickets are $50, with all proceeds supporting The Children’s Center and its programs dedicated to serving local families.

This year’s event will include a silent auction and a unique gingerbread house auction, as well as a special Fund-a-Need opportunity where attendees can directly contribute to specific needs of the Center. “Cheers for Children is a wonderful way to come together as a community and celebrate the impact we can make in the lives of our local children and families,” says Abby Newberry-West, Executive Director of The Children’s Center. “Every dollar raised helps us continue our mission of providing quality early childhood education and support services to local families.”

In 2023, The Children’s Center celebrated 30 years of service to the community. Affiliated with the Harwich Ecumenical Council for Housing (HECH), the Center offers essential childcare and educational programs that create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. The funds raised at Cheers for Children will go directly to supporting these programs, including tuition assistance. Since its founding, philanthropic giving has been key in allowing The Children’s Center to make an impact in the lives of children and families, and it will continue to for years to come.

The Children’s Center invites everyone to join the fun and help make a difference. Tickets for Cheers for Children can be purchased in advance. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure your spot and help support this vital community resource.

Chatham, Cape Cod Town Resources

One of the older townships on Cape Cod, Chatham was settled in 1656 by William and Anne Busby Nickerson. Incorporated in 1712, the town’s census list now approximates 7,000 residents. Originally a farming community, its inhabitants found deep sea fishing more lucrative; and today, small boat deep sea fishing, as well as shell fishing continue as important maritime industries.

Covering an area of approximately seventeen square miles, Chatham is  a happy combination of past and present — old-fashioned and picturesque, yet affording the best in modern facilities.

Surrounded by water on three sides, Chatham benefits from Mother Nature’s “natural air conditioning” with cool summers, exquisite autumns, and mild winters. It is a comfortable place in which to live year-round, as a summer resident or visit on vacation. We are proud of our community and hope that you will enjoy your stay with us and return often.

Chatham operates under the town meeting form of government. The executive officers are a board of five part-time Selectmen and a Town Manager. The citizens of Chatham enjoy the special benefits of forward-looking zoning and planning, and of both public and private conservation efforts.
