CHATHAM, Mass. — Spring on Cape Cod means blooming daffodils, marshes seeing new life, bikers and walkers flocking to the Rail Trail, and this year an exciting new opening of the J. Bar location in Chatham. Looking to start cleaning up your winter diet for the warmer weather? J. Bar is Cape Cod’s premier destination for healthy, plant-based food and drinks and will be opening for their 2025 season within the charming Shops at 400 Main on Friday, April 4, 2025, starting with limited hours.

"We couldn’t be more excited to finally open our doors in Chatham," says Tucker. "For the past ten years, we’ve been dedicated to providing healthy, plant-based foods that nourish the body and soul. We’re so grateful for the ongoing support and can’t wait to bring our passion for fresh, wholesome food to Chatham."

J. Bar Chatham is joining a vibrant community of local businesses at 400 Main and is looking forward to more community involvement.

And then opening mid-May, the Harwich Port community can continue to enjoy fresh, wholesome offerings including smoothies, cold-pressed juices, salads, power bowls, avocado toasts, and more at that location (537 MA-28, back of building, turn on to Sea St).

Chatham, Cape Cod Town Resources

One of the older townships on Cape Cod, Chatham was settled in 1656 by William and Anne Busby Nickerson. Incorporated in 1712, the town’s census list now approximates 7,000 residents. Originally a farming community, its inhabitants found deep sea fishing more lucrative; and today, small boat deep sea fishing, as well as shell fishing continue as important maritime industries.

Covering an area of approximately seventeen square miles, Chatham is  a happy combination of past and present — old-fashioned and picturesque, yet affording the best in modern facilities.

Surrounded by water on three sides, Chatham benefits from Mother Nature’s “natural air conditioning” with cool summers, exquisite autumns, and mild winters. It is a comfortable place in which to live year-round, as a summer resident or visit on vacation. We are proud of our community and hope that you will enjoy your stay with us and return often.

Chatham operates under the town meeting form of government. The executive officers are a board of five part-time Selectmen and a Town Manager. The citizens of Chatham enjoy the special benefits of forward-looking zoning and planning, and of both public and private conservation efforts.
