Lower Cape Outreach Council Announces Chefs’ Challenge Competitors
Second Annual Event to Benefit Food Pantries on the Lower Cape

ORLEANS, MA (April 30, 2025)—The Lower Cape Outreach Council (LCOC) today announced its complete roster of competing chefs for its Second Annual Chefs’ Challenge event to benefit the stocking of LCOC’s nine emergency food pantries on the Lower and Outer Cape.

The Second Annual Chefs’ Challenge takes place at Pate’s restaurant in Chatham on Thursday, June 5, beginning at 5 pm. The charity event features three local chefs competing with their unique recipes to make entrées using food items from an LCOC food pantry, along with a $20 stipend.

The 2025 competing chefs are Tyler Bridges of Mad Minnow and 3 Monkeys restaurants, Orlando Hemmings of Chatham Moods, and Lisa Whelan of Dancing Spoons Food Truck and the Dream Chaser Mobile Bar. One of these chefs will claim the 2025 challenge trophy, following the 2024 win of Chef Julio Lazzarini’s Puerto Rican-inspired chili dish.

The Second Annual Chefs’ Challenge also features silent and live auctions, hors d'oeuvres and food stations by Pate’s, and libations.

Limited event tickets remain at $175 per guest and can be purchased at chefschallenge.givesmart.com
For questions and more information, call 774-722-0209 or email donations@lcoutreach.org.

The Second Annual LCOC Chefs’ Challenge is sponsored by Friends’ Marketplace, Cape Dreams Building & Design, Cape Cod 5, Cape Associates, Community Web Development, Kerry Insurance, Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, and The Wendy Hinden & Kathryn Livelli Charitable Fund.

More About LCOC
From its humble roots of organizing assistance out of the homes of volunteer founders, the Lower Cape Outreach Council is an essential part of the community, providing comprehensive assistance to nearly 5,000 Lower and Outer Cape residents in need of immediate support while encouraging long-term sufficiency. Incorporated in 1984, LCOC has a holistic approach to client care and works to ensure participating individuals have all their basic needs met. The nonprofit operates nine emergency food pantries—one in each town on the Lower Cape, including two in Orleans, and a financial assistance program, Katy’s Korner, a free clothing and home goods center, as well as other seasonal programs. All programs are free and available to any resident of the Lower and Outer Cape who identifies a need. Chatham, Cape Cod Town Resources

One of the older townships on Cape Cod, Chatham was settled in 1656 by William and Anne Busby Nickerson. Incorporated in 1712, the town’s census list now approximates 7,000 residents. Originally a farming community, its inhabitants found deep sea fishing more lucrative; and today, small boat deep sea fishing, as well as shell fishing continue as important maritime industries.

Covering an area of approximately seventeen square miles, Chatham is  a happy combination of past and present — old-fashioned and picturesque, yet affording the best in modern facilities.

Surrounded by water on three sides, Chatham benefits from Mother Nature’s “natural air conditioning” with cool summers, exquisite autumns, and mild winters. It is a comfortable place in which to live year-round, as a summer resident or visit on vacation. We are proud of our community and hope that you will enjoy your stay with us and return often.

Chatham operates under the town meeting form of government. The executive officers are a board of five part-time Selectmen and a Town Manager. The citizens of Chatham enjoy the special benefits of forward-looking zoning and planning, and of both public and private conservation efforts.
